Two Poems From Kelsey McCarson
#1 Dad
Make me like you. Make me see. Make me learned. Make me free.
Make me happy. Make me sad. Make me listen.
Make me, Dad.
Kill me slowly. Kill me clean. Kill me inside. Kill me mean.
Kill me hurry. Kill me now. Kill me right here.
Kill me foul.
Love me deadly. Love me slow. Love me subtly. Love me no.
Love me hardly. Love me rare. Love me never.
Love me bare.
Hate me surely. Hate me nice. Hate me simply. Hate me twice.
Hate me coldly. Hate me true. Hate me heartfelt.
Hate me, YOU.

Papaw
Pappaw once told me
When he died
He wanted his hands to be nailed
Together above his head.
He wanted to be turned
Upside down and driven
into the ground
Like a nail.
No one mentioned this at the funeral.
